| The outline of the book follows a
progression of topics, becoming more specialized in the
later chapters which deal with implementation and analysis.
The Chapter 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 define general background for
understanding earth, earth environment, and its dynamics as
well as materials. In Chapter 6, the idea of Himalayan
Geology is given in some detail, covering geology of Nepal,
followed by climate and monsoon of Nepal. Basics of soil and
rock mechanics are discussed in Chapter 7 whereas
hydrological processes of earth are discussed in Chapter 8.
Chapter 9 deals with landforms of earth surface. Chapter 10
is long one and deals with natural environment and earth
hazard. The last chapter, Chapter 11, muses over
environmental friendly mitigation measures, like river
training works, bioengineering, and retaining wall.
